Cardinal Creek Community Children’s Garden Project
Hello-Bonjour,
We are pleased to report that Laporte’s Garden and Nursey, Boslaw, Myers Motors and Deputy Mayor-Councillor Bob Monette as well as members of the Rotary Club of Orleans have offered to help the Cardinal Creek Community Association (CCCA) build the firstphase of the Cardinal Creek Children’s Community Garden (CC CCG). Roman was not built in a day and this CCG will most likely be built over a few years.
We have also reached out to several schools in our area to see if they are interested in assisting in this new endeavour – the first of its kind in Orleans. Keith Penney, OCDSB Trustee has also been helpful in reaching out to some of these schools.  We hope that there will be many children, families and parents, teachers, businesses, church groups, environmentalists, educators and community leaders who will contribute their time and financial resources to make this project a success. Those interested in making this project a success please send an email to president@cardinalcreek.org to outline how you plan on helping. Please read the attached word document to learn more about our CCG. We look forward to hearing from you shortly.
This project is one of two environmental projects that the CCCA is launching this year as part of our 10th Anniversary as a community association. We are also conducting a Biodiversity Inventory of all Trees in the Eight Parks in Cardinal Creek. We are conducting this Tree Health Inventory in partnership with Laporte’s Garden and Nursey and Iris Gov, Director of Outreach will be writing to high school students who would also like to help us complete this initiativie between June 15 and October 31, 2015.
Cardinal Creek is bounded by Montreal Road-St. Joseph on the north, Varennes and Portobello on the west, Innes Road on the south and Cardinal Creek on the East. This area is comprised of 6,600 homes, Portobello Manor, Trillium Elementary School, Maple Ridge Elementary School, Ecole Arc en Ciel and St. Francis of Assis Elementary School, Beatrice Desloges, and Gisele Lalonde High schools are just on its doorstep. We have many businesses located in the surrounding area and we are a rapidly growing community.
We look forward to hearing from you on this exciting project. -Merci pour votre soutien pour ce project excitant.
Sincerely,
Sean Crossan
President, CCCA
