The minutes of the 2011 CCCA AGM, including priorities for 2011-2012, are now available here and here.

A new Board of Directors was formed for the year 2011. The 2011 Board of Directors consists of Sean Crossan as president, Martin d’Anjou as vice-president, Naim Ghawi as treasurer and Geneviève Gaignery as secretary. We also welcome on board our new Directors, Lechelle Landry (communications), Kevin Bloodworth (parks and recreation), Dan Ampleman (neighbourhood watch), Kathleen Black (environment), Jeff Lapointe (sponsorship and fund raising) and Neil Congdon (youth representative, street representative and neighbourhood watch).

Safety and Security in the Parks

At the AGM, guests were invited to discuss the issues with Park 18B.

1. Detective Wayne Wilson from Ottawa Police to address the issues relating to Park 18B. This is an open and on-going case. Every step is being taken to catch the persons responsible for these criminal acts. Constable Caroline Tessier is our contact at the Orleans/Cumberland Community Police Centre. Action: Detective Wilson to request a list from Constable Tessier of all criminal activities in Cardinal Creek for the last 3 years and have it sent to the CCCA.

2. Security Advisor, Gregory Dack from the City of Ottawa, Corporate Security team explained how they help secure city sites. They work with Police, By-law, City staff and residents to help solve problems and prevent crime. There will be camera/security systems installed at Park 18B once the threat/risk analysis has been conducted. The public is asked to be involved and report any and all issues. Action: Mr. Dack to include the CCCA Board of Directors in the security risk assessment. Kevin Bloodworth, Director Parks and Recreation to be the key contact person on this parks issue.

The Board has also made a priority of launching the Neighbourhood Watch Program. We had attempted to launch this program some years ago, but the community interest was not there. Hopefully this time the community will succeed.
