Ultimate Frisbee & Volleyball Tournament
The CHEO BBQ is an annual one-day fund raiser held in support of CHEO (Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario). Each year, over 2000 people venture out to Shefford Park in Ottawa’s East end to compete in beach volleyball and ultimate tournaments, frolic in the fun-packed family zone or just to spend a warm summer day socializing with friends.
Our humble beginnings back in June 1993 started as a backyard birthday celebration with 15 high school friends. As chance would have it, the CHEO Telethon was taking place that same weekend. The friends passed a fishbowl around and the collection was donated in to the CHEO Telethon on behalf of “The CHEO BBQ”… and so a tradition was born.
These days, The CHEO BBQ is one of Ottawa’s premiere summer festivals and continues to flourish as an annual fundraiser for the kids at the CHEO. This 19th year will be nothing short of spectacular. With the financial and community support of our sponsors, CHEO BBQ 2011 is bound to be an unqualified success with a first-rate beach volleyball and ultimate tournament, huge BBQ pit, fantastic Family Zone, and of course, the world’s best volunteers.
