On October 21 Carleton University’s School of Earth Sciences and the Cardinal Creek Communty Association introduced over 200 people to the Cardinal Creek Karst gem. This karst is the 12th longest in rhe Province of Ontario and was designated as an Area of Natural Scientific Interest (ANSI). Residents viewed fossils, pictures of the karst cave system, and learned about natural sink holes that have developed over hundreds of thousands of years. This karst was one of 7 sites show cased as part of the Geo-Heritage and it received the greatest interest of all sites across the National Capital Region.
